It was with some sadness that we saw Blades close. After around 2 years of service the Trent Boulevard community, this tasteful cafe finally had to close amidst increasing losses.

Little Venice and Camden Market

I saw Little Venice in a London guide book but never knew that to the north of Regents Park and London Zoo was a waterway with canal trips.

Take the Bakerloo line to Warwick Avenue and then walk a short distance to the canal. There are two main canal trip companies to choose from and both are similar.

Camden Market is bustling with a mass of stalls and many eating places with foods from all over the world.

London

On the south bank of the Thames next to the London Eye is the Dali Exhibition. Just outside is the bronze clock statue in Dali's unique style.

When I first saw the London Eye being erected, I felt it would detract from the London landscape. However, it has become a natural and very popular part of the scene, even though it is right opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, probably the most famous buildings in London.

St. Pancras

London is a place I often visited as a youth or later on during business trips. In those days, St. Pancras was the mainline station serving the Midlands and the North. Today it has been totally re-designed and modernised.

It is now an international station granting direct links between the Midlands and the North with Paris and Brussels via Eurostar. The station itself is completely different with a massive arcade of shops and cafés along with the Eurostar booking office.
Travel is about partings and reunions. They can be emotional occasions as families say 'good-bye' or greet each other after a time apart. Memories of loved-ones linger as the train pulls away and hearts start to race at the prospect of meeting up again.

For those who wish to travel to the Continent, time and discomfort have been greatly reduced. You can hop off the train from Nottingham and hop straight onto the express to Paris and be whisked away in a couple of hours into the heart of Europe. The trains look similar to the British ones but travel significantly faster. There is a comfortable cafe-louge area with internet access and posh waiter-service.

Christian Pat and his Charismatic Cat

Vintage Volvo

Now that's what I call a car. At Wheatcroft's Garden Centre today, I saw this and had to take a photo. It has style and is so well preserved.

Andy and Sue's leaving

Andy and Sue Willets left to take up their new ministry in Burton on Trent. As they had been such faithful supporters of the Badminton Club, there was only one way to mark the occasion - the Golden Shuttlecock Award.

Tenerife - Shots from the plane

We flew into Tenerife on April 1st. This is a view of Mount Teidi from the plane as we flew south towards the airport.
As we passed the west coast we saw what we thought was Riu Arecas from the air.

On the flight back we were greeted by a wonderful sunset.
As the sun went down, so the sky became a deeper blue.
This is the Magazine in front of my seat, illuminated by the sun.
